Having received a couple of rounds of commentary from some respected colleagues my research questions (and my research) took a turn today. There had been something bothering me about the statement I communicated, and the questions that came with it.
Deciding that time was of the essence, I maintained that my basic issue is sound, albeit poorly articulated, and that I'd focus first on re-clarifying my research questions. My theory was that I needed to conduct deeper research on the literature and required some direction in the form of questions to answer. I hoped that would prove efficient.
For the record, the 'round about' problem I'm looking to solve is summed up by Betel Czerkawski (2015), who indicates currently, no ID framework or major model provides clear guidance for online networked learning.
So, after taking my colleagues' feedback on board, the new research questions I am using are as follows:

So, after taking my colleagues' feedback on board, the new research questions I am using are as follows:
- How does NGL differ from traditional learning techniques?
- What are the essential components of NGL that must be included in an NGL course?
- What are the desired outcomes for learning via NGL?
- How can the problems of learning via NGL be avoided?
- What does learning using an NGL process look like?
- Which existing ID frameworks might be appropriate to use for an NGL course?
- How can NGL courses be designed to provide structure, yet flexibility and independence?
- How can students learn in and NGL course without high levels of information and digital literacy?
